Why do I want to learn Chinese? 

- Chinese is a language widely spoken in the world. There are around 16% of the global population speak Chinese. 

- Chinese is a language with a long history. The first written records appeared over 3,000 years ago. 

- Learning Chinese has lots of fun. You will discover the beauty of its sounds, the unique writing system, and differences between Chinese and English cultures. 

Is Chinese difficult to learn? 

Yes and no. Chinese has its unique features, such as tones and characters (special writing system) . These features are not familiar to English speakers, and they make Chinese seem difficult. However, the grammar in Chinese is not as complicated as English. There are fewer changes of the forms of the vocabularies. Word order is relatively flexible. Reading becomes easier in the later stage when you learn many characters, because characters contain loads of information and can be used to generate words. All of these makes Chinese not that difficult to learn. 

Do you follow the materials strictly? 

This depends on the abilities of the students in one class. I will adjust the materials to make sure all the students have learnt something after each session. Learning a new language is a great journey. I hope all my students will enjoy their journey with me.
